Saratoga Springs, NY --- Archangel continued his dominance in the New York Sire Stakes on Tuesday night (August 14) at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

The Peter Arrigenna trained 3-year-old scored impressively with Jim Morrill, Jr. at the controls. Archangel (Credit Winner) was the fourth place finisher in the $1.5 million Hambletonian two weeks ago at the Meadowlands but here in New York, he has been nothing shy of dominant. On Tuesday night, Morrill sat patiently with the 1-9 favorite before unleashing him at the half. Archangel opened up late to win convincingly in 1:56 in the $119,594 New York Sire Stake, the richest race of the season to date at Saratoga.

The win moved the Arrigenna trainee’s lifetime record to 11 for 24 and upped his career bankroll to more than $760,000.

The other division of the Sire Stakes saw a track record performance as Brookroad Knight (CR Excalibur) set the record for 3-year-old gelding trotters and matched the all-time mark for a 3-year-old highstepper at the Spa with his 1:55.2 score.

Wally Hennessey piloted Brookroad Knight to the wire-to-wire win in the $117,493 stake for sophomore trotters. Brookroad Knight is trained by Bruce Borden.

Live racing continues at Saratoga on Wednesday night with a first post time set for 7:20 p.m.
